Teatr Wielki

1/5
Main stage for opera and ballet with a huge auditorium seating 1,828 and the theatre museum
The Grand Theatre was built between 1825 and 1833 to a design by Antonio Corazzi. It was later rebuilt several times. During the siege of Warsaw in 1939, it was bombed and almost completely destroyed. Between 1945 and 1965, the theatre company operated on other stages and the theatre building was rebuilt from the rubble and expanded. The grand opening of the huge and modern Grand Theatre took place on 19 November 1965
