Muzeum Kornela Makuszyńskiego

The Kornel Makuszyński Museum is the second biographical and literary museum in Zakopane after the Kasprowicz Harenda.

The museum is housed in the 'Opolanka' villa, where Mr and Mrs Makuszyński lived during their almost annual summer and winter stays in Zakopane, and where they settled permanently after the Second World War. Many of the Makuszyński family's valuables and large library were destroyed in Warsaw during the Second World War.
What is housed in the Museum today is just a fraction of the writer's output - a collector of works of art and a friend of many eminent artists. The Museum was established in 1966 from a collection donated to the public by Janina Gluzińska-Makuszyńska (1896-1972), the writer's widow.
