In an area covering almost 3ha, around a large-format world map, one can find an African village, a Papuan house on stilts, a Mongolian yurt, an igloo, an Indian teepee and a Peruvian hut – places where the inhabitants found themselves on the margins of social life. Interactive sightseeing and a rich program of educational workshops allow visitors to learn about the culture, everday lives, and problems of the most needy inhabitants of the world in an interactive way. The mission of Villages of the World is to relay knowledge and raise awareness about cultural diversity and global problems occurring in the world: access to education, poverty, human rights, migration and understanding the mutual dependencies existing between differrent parts of the world.
